Virginia grew up in San Diego, lived in Boston from the 1960s until 2014, and now lives in Keene, New Hampshire. She studied under Dame Myra Hess in London and Leonard Shure in New York. She has performed with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe, including San Francisco, Buffalo, Utah, and Rochester—and with the Boston Pops, the Israel Sinfonietta, Civic Symphony of Boston, the New York City Ballet, the Boston Ballet, and numerous chamber groups. In recent years she has given recitals at the U.S. embassies in Madrid, Lisbon, and Reykjavik, in concert halls in Athens, St. Petersburg, Ljubljana, Slovenie, and Maykop, Adygea (Russia);, and in many museums and libraries, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Morgan Library in New York, and the Redwood Library and Athenaeum in Newport, R.I. She has made many recordings, both as a soloist and with chamber groups, including the premiere recording of works by Czech composer Vítezslava Kaprálová. According to former Boston Globe Music Critic Richard Dyer, “She’s not just a pianist but a communicator.” More about Virginia is at www.virginiaeskin.com
