The Greys are a 4-piece indie soul art rock band from Western Massachusetts. They released their debut album SIXTEEN EYES in December of 2024.
Formed in 2015 as an intimate vocal and upright bass duo, The Greys emerged from the creative collaboration of Chris Merritt and Caity Simpson, shortly after they graduated from college. Officially adopting their name in 2016, the band’s sound evolved over the next few years as they expanded into a full four-piece ensemble, with Tim Zucco and Kevin Mason joining after the pandemic in the summer of 2021, solidifying the lineup.
Their long-anticipated debut album, SIXTEEN EYES, captures an eclectic and enigmatic sound that mirrors the band’s own evolution. SIXTEEN EYES is the culmination of songs written over the span of several years—2016 to 2023—that draw on themes of perception, self-identity, and the spaces in between. Musically, it weaves together unexpected influences and sounds—psychedelic textures, sophisticated grooves, and haunting, emotive melodies. Lyrically, the album explores the paradox of being seen, the tension between how we perceive reality and how we see ourselves, and the catharsis that comes with being vulnerable. Throughout, the band delves into themes of loneliness, loss, aging, and the radical joy of letting oneself be known.
’SIXTEEN EYES’ is a journey through the shadows of introspection, elevated by a sound that is as mysterious and captivating as the themes it explores.
Hailing from New Hampshire, the quartet of Nate Bosworth on guitar & vocals, Chrissy Cunningham on vocals, Keith Valcourt on bass, & Ian Hayes on drums, deliver a sound that is as eclectic as it is electrifying. Listening to Tumbletoads is like embarking on a sonic adventure. Their music is a rich tapestry woven from threads of psychedelic rock, blues, funk, and a hint of soul. Each track is a Journey through swirling guitar solos, groovy basslines, & dynamic drum patterns.
