Nova Comedy has been one of our most popular offerings. Our shows are always all ages, but these nights in particular are aimed at a moremature audience, so please keep that mind.
LAURA SEVERSE is a Boston native, devoted wife, working mother of two, storyteller and stand-up comic. Laura brings her hard-working, heartfelt approach to life to stages across the country. She finds the humor in everything from climbing the corporate ladder to the trials and tribulations of raising two young children in the heart of a changing city in the midst of a changing world. Audiences have no choice but to be swept up in the joy, pathos, and sheer excitement of a city kid who’s seen it all and can’t wait for more. Laura’s attitude is equal parts bold, brash, kind, and gentle but always and gut-wrenchingly funny. She is a true Bostonian with a killer accent and her comedy reflects her true nature: honest and hilarious.
Laura has headlined Nick’s Comedy Stop, regularly features at Laugh Boston, the Comedy Scene and WooHaHa. She has performed in the Boston Comedy Festival, the Women in Comedy Festival and was a featured performer in the NBC Spotlight Showcase during WICF. She was selected as Comic-In-Residence at the Comedy Studio in Somerville, MA for October 2018. Laura has participated in the Boston talent showcases for Comedy Central and Just For Laughs Montreal as well as the Best of Boston Comics Showcase at the Comedy Scene and Laugh Boston. She is a member of the Boston Comedy Chicks producing team, MassMouth, and performs regularly on the WGBH program Stories from the Stage. Laura has performed all over the country from San Diego to Washington, D.C. and has become a staple of New England comedy.
KATIE ARROYO is a comedian who has performed throughout New England and featured in clubs in New York and Boston. With an aggressive-good natured act, her varied life experiences have given her the ability to connect with any audience.
In her short time as a stand up, Katie has become a favorite in the New England scene- featuring frequently at The RI Comedy Connection and Laugh Boston. Her love of projects and fear of missing out on anything is in your favor as you can listen to her on a few podcasts- She cohosts Wicked Funny Podcast, and The Messy Show Podcast will be debuting in March.
Audiences love Katie because her philosophy in life is to try it all- and fortunately for us on stage is where she shares it all.
CHRIS PENNIE has been entertaining crowds since 2005. As a lifelong bachelor and full-time single dad Chris relies on his dysfunctional family and offbeat view of the world to find humor in everyday life. If you have kids or were one in the past you’ll be entertained by Chris’ daily battles. In 2012, Chris was a finalist in CMTs Next Big Comic. In 2011, he was a finalist in the Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival and Dick Doherty’s Beantown Comedy Riots as well as being invited to the Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta and the Boston Comedy festival.
